WSA U7 Bus - New timetable

Anonymous submitted on

Complete

The old WSA shuttle bus ran between campuses 8-10:30 pm allowing WSA students to access Highfield and join society while having free and safe transport between the campuses. The new U7 bus only runs 6 times a day with a gap between 9:30 am and starts again at 3:00 pm leaving students stranded in either campus. Additionally, WSA students' timetables for the last few years have been built around the shuttle bus timetable allowing students from Southampton to arrive for lectures - the current U7 timetable is not compatible with lecture times. The last bus arrives at Highfeild campus at 6:30 pm making it hard for students living in Winchester to join societies. It would be good if the U7 had more times it arrived and left either campus so students could make better use of it, and be more subsidized by the university, as for the last 3 years there has been a free shuttle bus.

Thanks!

Thank you for your patience with this issue!

After months of conversations with the University and Unilink, I am happy to say that after the Easter break (there are processes that mean the change cannot be instant), there should be a new U7 bus timetable that better aligns with the WSA students' timetables. There will be future conversations regarding fares and the costing of the new service, which I will send an update when I have one via my fortnightly email. I am going to close this You Make Change now, however as transport is a continuous struggle for students, I urge anyone with problems or ideas for transport services to any campus to contact myself as soon as possible.
