We are currently in frequent discussions with the University and Unilink about buses, particularly the U7 service to Winchester and back. In a Cost of Living crisis the cost of travel for students should be minimal and so it is a key item in every meeting we have, and I am always sure to raise it, if it's not officially on the agenda. To manage expectations, I doubt I can successfully lobby for a £2 single to Winchester though it is a good target, and I will push to get it as cheap as I possibly can.
The Unilink advice on affording travel is to purchase the student annual bus pass, for £325, which gives unlimited travel on all Southampton buses for a year.
If you have any further queries or would like to discuss this further, feel free to email me at president@soton.ac.uk
