I live in Monte, with 20 other people.
Although I love my flatmates now, it is awful living with so many people when everything is broken. Everything is broken and constantly needs to be fixed. For example:
And everything is broken and constantly needs to be fixed. For example:
Fridges, ovens, microwaves, cupboard doors are hanging off, hoover breaks, showers are blocked, sinks are blocked, toilets are leaking (some toilets are actually locked now due to them stinking and leaking), 2 mice have been found my flat.
This is just a selection of what's gone wrong.
It's frustrating that it was never on the Southampton website that you could be living with 20 other people.
Also, I pay the same as the people who have smaller flats like 6/7 people in them.
Surely this isn't fair, and the facilities are so old that most of them don't work properly or are causing people to be ill (fridge, ovens etc).
Is there anything that can be done to compensate this?

Hi! Thanks for your submission!
I’m really sorry to hear that your experience in Monte isn’t up to scratch. The best way to get in touch with the University to get things fixed is by logging onto SUSSED and clicking on ‘Planon Self Service’. That will then allow you to report anything to the maintenance team, who will send someone out to take a look at it!
In terms of any potential mis-advertisement of halls on the University of Southampton website, I’ll relay your feedback to the Residences team so hopefully the website can be updated!
If you have any further questions, feel free to get in touch – you can email me at vpcommunities@unionsouthampton.org, find me on Facebook or tweet me!
Thanks,
Flora, VP Student Communitie
