Complete

Having to travel to warm up food is annoying and wastes time that would be better studying, especially in winter.

Hi Shanelle,

I've just had a response from the Library, which reads as follows:

We have investigated microwaves but we are currently unable to install microwaves in the Library.  However, we are doing the following:-

  • An order has been placed to install a hot water tap in the Library (near the doors to the Library café) so the installation should be in place this term.  This will provide hot water for drinks, cup of soups , noodles etc .    We will communicate when the hot water is in place , usable and its location.
  • We are having ongoing talks with Catering on improving the food available in the vending machines.  This is all part of a strategic look at all vending machines around the campus

This is definitely a step in the right direction, and I'll continue to work on the microwave point!

In the meantime I'm going to close this You Make Change submission, but don't hesitate to get in touch with me (vpeducation@susu.org) if you have any more questions.

All the best,

Samuel Dedman (VP Education 2017/18)

Hi Shanelle,

Thanks for getting in touch - this is something which I've already spoken to the Library about, and last I heard they were still working with University Catering to work out a way that this would be possible. The same goes for hot water access in Hartley, which is a conversation happening in parallel.

Let me drop them an email and see how the conversation is going - I'll get back to you as soon as I have news!

Don't hesitate to get in touch with me (vpeducation@susu.org) if you have any more questions.

All the best,

Samuel Dedman (VP Education 2017/18)
