rally the university to give Connaught and Chamberlain their own Reception and 24 hour Student Life/Security Team

Currently Chamberlain relies on Glen Eyre's reception/Student Life and Security team, and Connaught have to rely on the reception/Student Life/Security team based at Monte. The university state on their website "Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Student Life are based within all Halls of Residences and support all University of Southampton students" however Chamberlain and Connaught fall short of this. I feel these students are missing out on a vital part of their security and support within Halls.

Hey Tess, thanks for this You Make Change suggestion! I have liaised with residences about these concerns and due to the extremely close proximity of Chamberlain Halls to Glen Eyre, and Connaught Halls to Monte Halls, having separate receptions for these sites is not practical. Furthermore, Student Life are available 24/7 to any student living in UoS Halls of Residence, as well as students on campus. This is from the Student Life page on the official University of Southampton website;

"The Student Life Team are dedicated to supporting student wellbeing and enhancing the student experience. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Student Life are based within Halls of Residence. and support all University of Southampton students."

You can contact student life by calling +44(0)2380598180 or emailing studentlife@soton.ac.uk.

If you'd like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to email me at vpengage@susu.org.

All the best,

Fleur Elizabeth Walsh
