Wastage at Union outlets
I'm wondering whether it is possible to publicize the way Union Cafe, Bridge (and Stags) deal with the leftover food that remains at the end of the workday, as well as its amount; also lobby the University to release that information for Piazza, Terrace, etc., and the catered halls.
Hi Alexander,
An update on the practicalities of reducing food waste: we are working with the University to run a trial in January, where food collection vouchers are offered to students eligible for food vouchers on the hardship fund. We will be reviewing this in February and if it works are hoping to expand the food collection points to include all the UoS outlets (currently trialling with SUSU outlets). In addition to this, we will be releasing marketing material on our screens and social media to promote the work we are doing to reduce food waste. Furthermore, we are currently working on the content of the Sustainability webpage, that we hope to release in the next couple of months. This will offer a collective of information on what we are doing here at SUSU and in partnership with the University to be more environmentally sustainable, as well as promoting our amazing societies and the work they do, ways to be more sustainable as an individual and ways to get involved.
Please do attend our next Sustainability Zone meeting (open to all) taking place 10-12 on the 7th February in SUSU Building 42.
Best wishes,
