Kathak Bharatanatyam Dance Society
SKBD is a dance society that celebrates Indian classical dance through a fusion of Kathak and Bharatanatyam. We offer lessons, workshops, and collaborative opportunities where members can perform and learn new choreography! Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned dancer, we cannot wait to have you join us in all of our fun events! This is where North meets South and we are proud to present you with a unique approach to Indian classical dance: Kathaknatyam!
Kathak and Bharatanatyam are both forms of Indian classical dance. These styles of dance can tell stories through intricate hand movements, the rhythm and precision of footwork and the expressions on the dancer's face. Bharatanatyam originates from South India and is deeply ingrained in Indian culture and history. Bharatanatyam has been the B in SKBD for a long time, but every year we try to bring something new by choreographing and performing fusions with other Indian styles of dance, as well as our pure traditional pieces. In 2022, we added some Bollywood and Kathak moves into our fusion pieces, so we decided to introduce Kathak to SKBD! Members of our committee will work with an external, highly accredited teacher to produce choreography that is both suitable for beginners and still representative of the graceful style of Kathak, in order to teach it to all of you! At SKBD, we have a variety of exciting opportunities to perform throughout the year, to showcase our traditional and fusion choreography!

These are the current membership fees offered by Kathak Bharatanatyam Dance Society , although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.
