A conversation with Don John, the founder of Black History Month Southampton. 


 


A consultant in the field of community cohesion and pioneer in the development of race and diversity issues across the region for over forty years, Don John will discuss 500 years of Black history in the city, his own experiences, the persistence of racism in the UK, and the local importance of the Black Lives Matter movement.


 


Don has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Solent University in recognition of his role in the development of Southampton City Council’s race and diversity policies and is the co-author of A Black History of Southampton
