Koshu Japanese Art coming to Southampton!!
Hello everyone, we Japanese Society are honoured to invite Master Koshu, who is a well-known Japanese calligrapher based in UK with many years of experience in Japanese calligraphy art. We are opening a 1-hour calligraphy workshop where you have an opportunity to receive a professional teaching on the way of calligraphy art and learn how to use a brush and create your own calligraphy work!
Akemi Lucus, a calligraphy artist, embarked on her journey as a calligrapher at the age of eight, taught under Master Seizan Fujimoto, whose lineage is traced back to a well-known calligrapher of the Meiji period, Meikaku Kusakabe. Since, the age of 24, she has given a master’s permission and given a name “Koshu” - red coloured autumn by Master Seizan and debut as a professional calligrapher since. Koshu gained international recognition as Japanese artist in the UK through her solo exhibitions in the past and numerous calligraphy demonstrations across the globe and has even made appearances in high profile projects at the World Rugby Award, which was hosted by japan in 2019, and also the 2020 summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
We are very lucky to have this opportunity to have her to open a calligraphy workshop here in Southampton University and if you are interested to do a calligraphy art experience! Please sign up in the form linked on the tickets link!! No prior experience is required!!
