CoppaFeel! Uni Boob Team works throughout the year to promote the awareness of breast cancer, particularly amongst young people. Representing CoppaFeel!, a UK charity, on campus, our role is to circulate accurate information on the importance of regularly checking yourself, both men and women, for signs and symptoms of breast cancer. We also work throughout the year to fundraise for the charity. UBT is a fun and exciting society that also allows members to have positive impacts on their peers and society!

Once a Month is a volunteer project, created to fight against period poverty. Once a Month at the University of Southampton has been successfully running for the academic year of 2020/2021. Ideally, the project would go on for one hour each month and would be a fun, relaxing space in which volunteers can make friends with like-minded people. At these sessions, volunteers will pack bags containing sanitary and hygiene products. Due to the pandemic and government lockdowns, we have not been able to meet regularly; however, we have been able to make large amounts of donations. These bags that we pack are taken to charities and organizations by the project leaders with the assistance of a few volunteers. We have been in contact with a variety of charities in Southampton that have accepted donations from us. Once a Month was originally started at the University of Manchester and this academic year has been the start of the third year that the project has run there. We have based our project on what has worked and what has not worked for them, keeping in constant contact with their project leaders. Given the current pandemic and the shortages that charities are facing, this project will be extremely beneficial to both charities and students, enabling the University of Southampton to support the wider community.

UoS CASHES is a student-focused society aiming to campaign for better consent awareness (and sexual health education) in the Southampton student population. We aim to support survivors of sexual harassment, domestic abuse & rape by providing a safe space for students to discuss these issues and signpost them to appropriate resources. Through education, awareness campaigns, support groups and fundraising we hope to make students more aware of issues surrounding consent and help them feel safer both on and off campus.

inspired by the train and gain society at Loughborough university as well as my passion for Health, fitness and wellness I wanted to start a society where girls can come together to claim their space in the gym. Starting at the gym can be scary: you may feel like you don’t know where to begin in terms of what to do, you may feel intimidated by the regular gym goers, you may not have anyone to go with or maybe you’re going to the gym already but want to progress and take the next step in your fitness journey but don’t know how. whatever reason it is, I want to help! By creating a society focused on empowering us girls and which focuses on building friendships & rejecting the toxic masculinity and fear associated with strength training I hope to make the gym a less scary place and open your eyes to the mental and physical benefits that fitness can provide. Along with the fitness aspect of the society I want a large focus to be on wellness. I want to create a society which empowers its members and works on building self confidence and healthy habits. In a society which earns from our insecurities as women I think it is more important than ever to be able to distinguish the false news out there regarding diets, wellness and exercise and discover the reasons why health and wellness are so beneficial and why shrinking yourself is never the answer. Our motto is “strong not skinny” - we want our members to be empowered when they enter the gym, have a safe place to talk about how they are feeling, have a place where they can get advice about how to train, the best activewear brands, delicious and nutritious meals to make and more. We are an inclusive society, while we are focused on female empowerment we want everyone to feel comfortable at the gym and welcome anyone to join empower.
