We're the Cyber Security Society and our second weekly session this year will be about Open Source Intelligence. This is data collected from publicly available sources to be used in an intelligence context.

Like all of our free-to-attend weekly sessions, we'll start with a short talk about what OSINT means and different applications in the world of cyber security. This is aimed at people of all experience levels and you don't even need to study a STEM degree to take part.

After the talk, we'll have a friendly, informal competition to put your new intelligence gathering skills into practice. You'll have a chance to conduct your own open source investigation into a fictional company. There are over 20 criticial pieces of information to discover and they're hidden all over the internet!

This week our session will be in 29/1101. There's no need to sign up, just come along and bring a laptop. We'd encourage you to sign up to the society on SUSU and most importantly join our Discord server.

The Organisers

Cyber Security Society

We're a group of students with an interest in computer security, learning how to make systems more secure by getting hands on and learning how attacks are carried out, as well as look at other interesting areas in security. We also partake in numerous national CTFs, such as HackTheBox, invite guest speakers to encourage others to get into cyber security, and run regular socials where you can meet like-minded people and make new friends! Join us every Wednesday, 6-8pm, in 67/1037! Join our Discord to find out more: https://discord.com/invite/YC4H9XVkdc
