LGBTQ+ Society Freshers Mixer

SUSU and the LGBTQ+ Society have come together to put on this freshers friendly LGBTQ+ Mixer! This event is intended to get all you new and returning students mingling and having a good time! We'll be in Below Deck, on Level 2 of the SUSU Building (B42). This mixer will include snacks, board games, activities, and more to do with like-minded students! After the mixer ends at 21:30, the on-campus student pub The Stag's are holding a karaoke evening, if you don't want the night to end!

Who can attend this event?

This event is aimed at any student/member who is interested in meeting other LGBTQ+ students and learning about the LGBTQ+ Society! While the event is aimed at freshers, and those new or to the Southampton area, any student is welcome to attend if they're interested in learning more. 

What will the safeguarding be like at this event?

Security will be operating at this event, as it is open to any prospective members and students, we acknowledge that there may be those in fear of discrimination in public, and we have accounted for this. We have done everything we can to safeguard and protect this event! Committee will be in attendance, and they will have easily identifiable lanyards if you need to find us.

Committee members will be available to walk you to your nearest bus stop home, or chaperone during the Safety Bus home with you. All you have to do is come find us at the event when you're ready to leave and would like assistance! As per all our events, Chelsea (Welfare & Signposting) will be attendance with the Welfare Bag stocked full of useful items.

The Safety Bus will not be running for this event.

British Sign Language

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to provide BSL, however if you have your own support, they are more than welcome to join.

Welcome to the LGBTQ+ Society at the University of Southampton! We welcome anyone from any gender or sexual minority, and even allies who wish to support our community. Our aim is to provide an inclusive and safe space for LGBT+ students to socialise with one another, allowing them the freedom to discover and express who they are without judgement.

We are the University of Southampton Students’ Union (also called "SUSU"). We are here to represent the voice of students at every level and ultimately make their university experience unforgettable. Independent from the University, we're run by students, for students!
