Feminist Society

Sustainability

This society is for anybody from the university who has an interest in the Feminist movement. We are an open-minded, political society which holds regular meetings to discuss issues surrounding feminism and the fight for gender/sexual equality, including film screenings, guest speakers, energetic debates, presentations and social meetings.

We also organise regular fundraising events throughout the year for local charities relating to feminist issues.

Debating Union

Political, Social Awareness & Campaigns

We run weekly debates which are free to attend and open to everyone. In the last year we have had the pleasure of welcoming several high profile speakers to these events, including former MP and Government Minister Sir Vince Cable, Spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy Yiftah Curiel and leader of the Liberal Democrats Tim Farron. We also run training sessions to educate people in debating, improve their skills at public speaking and formulating arguments, and prepare them for inter-university competitions.
