Kung Fu Club
Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu is suitable for all body types and all levels of experience, we welcome new members all year round and your first few sessions will be free - feel free to come and give it a go!
Taught by highly trained instructors, Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu is a style developed by founder and lifetime practitioner, Sijo J.R. Dutton, from several Martial Art styles, incorporating the traditional animal-based Kung-Fu forms, Shaolin Longfist, Bak Mei, Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kung, Baguazhang and Weaponry. Hung Leng Kuen develops health, focus, strength, flexibility, knowledge, ability, and self-confidence for practical, on-the-street self-defense and for those who wish to learn a traditional martial art.
All areas of martial arts can be found in Kung Fu, as it is the origin of many eastern martial arts. Striking, kicking, trapping, and grappling are found across everything we do! We run Traditional Kung Fu classes, sparring classes, and FREE SELF DEFENCE.

The Committee
All clubs and societies within the Students' Union are run entirely by students. The student committee for Kung Fu Club this year are:
President
- Responsible for coordinating the Committee into promoting, supporting and organising the HLK club and HLK sessions while being aware of how the Club runs on a day to day basis to do your best to maintain the excellent training atmosphere we have built up in HLK. Behind the scenes you should be aware of the details and responsibilities of every Committee member throughout the whole year to make sure any and every task is completed. It is your job to make sure the club is run in the best possible way.
Treasurer
- Responsible for the group finances. Making sure members have paid Insurance and Semester fees, also collects money for seminars and gradings.
Welfare Officer
- Responsible for Welfare of the club and its members. If there is anyone in the club who is struggling in anyway, be it health or general happiness, the Welfare Officer is trained to offer support. Generally these issues aren't caused by the society - starting University can be tough for many people in different ways and often joining a society is a great way to adjust - but the Welfare Officer is there for the added support if needed.
Secretary
- Responsible for the administration of the group. eg: Promotional emails, risk assessments and room bookings. The Secretary for our club is equivalent to a Vice-President
