History Society (Football)
HistSoc FC is a student run football club, playing in the University of Southampton's Intramural Leagues. In recent seasons, HistSoc have had two competitive teams, and 2025-26 season will provide another chance for a new set of players to showcase their abilities. Both our teams are looking to follow up on our impressive double league win last season, lifting the trophies in both the sunday 1st and 3rd division. We view a complete team dynamic as crucial in achieving these aims - forged through outstanding attendance on both matchdays, on Sundays, and at training, on Wednesdays. We see the club's social aspect as key in establishing more than on-the-pitch team cohesion. For new members, joining us offers you the best possible opportunity to meet mates that you will keep throughout your time at Southampton. We aim to hold as many socials as we can - the first of many to be the legendary Pub Golf, in the early weeks of the academic year - with outrageous golfing attire an absolute must! The annual HistSoc FC tour has seen the boys wreak havoc across Europe, with places like Prague, Krakow and Budapest coming to mind. Last year we travelled to Edinbrugh; seeing the sights, experiencing the nightlife and playing against the locals. It goes without saying that this holiday won't just be a highlight of your university experience, but one you'll remember forever. The return of the Histsoc FC tour is something we are all looking forward to and it should be a special one this year, as Histsoc FC hits Europe.
History FC is Intramural's biggest subject team, with two sides competing in the first and second division respectively. We therefore offer a variety of levels of football and give you plenty of opportunities to meet new people and make some great new friends. We are one club and train together every Wednesday before taking to wide lane on Sundays for our matches. We run plenty of socials, accommodating to all people and needs, and this will quickly become a highlight of your university week. There is even the chance of a returning HitsSoc FC tour this year, and the orange army will embark on a European adventure to remember.
We are very lucky to be part of the wider history society, and joining the side means involving yourself in a fantastic group where we have regular socials and activities. Its a fantastic opportunity, then, to join a great group and wider society to stay fit and busy during your university time, and have plenty of fun on the side.
