Welcome to the University of Southampton Medical Society! With over 1400 members, we are one of the largest societies in the Union, and aim to provide our members with a varied and exciting calendar of events and activities throughout the year.
MedSoc is the student body for all UoS Medical students, here to represent and help you!
We support our numerous sub-societies - including academic, charitable, and sports clubs - to provide you with the best opportunities at medical school. We organise events and socials throughout the year and sponsor local and national charities as well as facilitating student-led charitable work. We also provide you the latest news and views through our weekly Bulletin, and have education resources to support your learning and future careers. MedSoc is only able to run through the generous funding provided by the Student Union (Us), sponsors and donors. If you wish to support Southampton MedSoc please contact at medsoc@soton.ac.uk.
The Committee
All clubs and societies within the Students' Union are run entirely by students. The student committee for MedSoc this year are:
President
- Responsible for overseeing the work of other committee members, as well as being the face of Medsoc. Leads committee meetings and supports others in their roles, such as at events. Supported by the Vice-President.
Treasurer
- Responsible for managing Medsoc's finances.
Welfare Rep
- Responsible for looking after the welfare of all members. Available to talk to for any students needing support.
Ball Rep
- Responsible for arranging the Medsoc balls, such as Winter Ball, Spring Ball, and Grad Ball
Charities Rep
- Responsible for choosing one local and one national/ international charity for the year, and organising fundraising events throughout the year to support chosen charities. Helps to arrange charity work opportunities for students.
Design and Promo Rep
- Responsible for managing Medsoc's social media pages and publicising all events and news to members. Designs promotional materials.
Education Lead
- Responsible for supporting students through providing academic resources, revision sessions, and liaising with academic sub-societies.
Events Rep
- Responsible for organising all Medsoc events across the year, from quiz nights to pub crawls to pizza & games! Works with the Charities and Ball reps to ensure all activities run smoothly.
Secretary
- Responsible for the administration of the group and taking minutes during meetings.
Sports & Societies
- Supports the many Medsoc sub-socieites including sports, academic, charitable, and general interest societies that are affiliated with Medsoc. Responsible for arranging Bunfight.
Vice President
- Supports the President in being responsible for overseeing the work of other committee members, as well as being the face of Medsoc. Leads committee meetings when President not available and supports others in their roles, such as at events.
Membership Information
These are the current membership fees offered by MedSoc, although many clubs and societies offer a free period for new members to try out their activities.

MedSoc Winter Ball Faculty Tickets
You are invited to the MedSoc winter ball! Expect a fun night of Gatsby-themed partying, from casino tables to aerial hoop performances, be prepared to get swept up in a night of decadence and dazzling entertainment!
Note that this ticket is ONLY for staff of the Faculty of Medicine and their plus ones (optional). One ticket per person attending.

You are invited to the annual MedSoc Winter Ball! Prepare for a night of decadence and dazzling entertainment at this year's Gatsby Soiree on the 5th December 2026. You can expect dancing, casino tables, aerial hooop performances, and lots more extravagant fun, so pick out your best 1920s dress and join us!

MedSoc Charity Christmas Card Evening
Are you excited for Christmas? Come and join MedSoc for a fun and festive evening of Christmas card decorating, music, and snacks!
We will be decorating cards to be donated to the staff of the PICU unit and to patients on other wards at Southampton General Hospital, helping to make them feel special over the Christmas period.
All craft supplies and cards will be provided, so just come along for some fun!
Note: there are two ticket options - the event is free to attend, but if you would like to donate £2 to support our fundraising for Friends of PICU and Medical Aid for Palestinians, then you can choose to add a donation on to your booking! :)
