Shorinji Kenpo is the Japanese martial art of self-defence, improving health, fitness, confidence and concentration. Shorinji Kenpo incorporates punching, kicking, blocking, grappling and throwing. It relies on speed, technique and accuracy, utilising knowledge of nerve points, and an understanding of how the body can be manipulated to achieve maximum effect with minimal effort. The Southampton University club has been instructed since 1994 by Sensei Adrian Starr, 4th Dan and Head of the Shorinji Kenpo Organisation (SKO). He has trained in the art since 1981. We attend weekend martial arts seminars, organise a variety of social events and even run a Summer camp at the end of August!
