4. Officer & Student Leader reports

RAG Officer

  • Jenny Bortoluzzi advised that the Big Give went really well. The total will be revealed at the RAG Awards.
  • The RAG Awards are being held on 13th May in The Bridge. There will be networking opportunities with charity representatives.
  • RAG Awards nominations are open now – please nominate.
  • The AGM was held last week. There are still 2 vacant positions.
  • The Nominations for next years’ charities are now closed and are being shortlisted. Jenny has worked hard to have a new shortlisting process to make it clear and fair. The shortlist will be out next week.

Enterprise Officer

  • Catie Williams advised that she has been ill so not a lot to report.
  • Catie has been emailing contacts in the enterprise societies and they are keen to continue building relationships for next year.

VP Engagement

  • Ellie has spent a lot of her time working on the Big Give and General Election campaign.
  • Today is voting day. An all-student text is going out today to remind everyone to vote.
  • The Big Give was a huge success.
5. Volunteer feedback

Chris Small entered the meeting just as it was ending. Ellie and Karen Lawrence left the meeting so that Chris could discuss the subject with the rest of the committee.

6. 'Launch Pad' update
  • Ellie gave a brief overview of Launch Pad and advised that we have received two applications. This number is lower than expected but we hope this will increase with time.
  • The panel with consider the applications on Tuesday afternoon and, if successful, this will move forward with the signing of contracts etc.

7. General Enterprise update

Ellie has been talking to the Fish On Toast presidents. They have set up their own Enterprise Committee and will share the minutes of their last meeting with Ellie and Catie. Ellie has advised them that this needs to be a SUSU sub-committee to be chaired by the Enterprise Officer. This was agreeable to the presidents.

8. Big Give update

See Officer Reports.

9. Your Vote Your Voice - General Election campaign update
  • The debates were very successful and good feedback has been received.
  • We are happy with the advertising that is around the city.
  • Not enough candidates responded with comments for the website, so those that did respond are on there and ‘no response received’ has been entered for those that have not replied.
  • The General Elections issue of the Wessex Scene was not received until Tuesday 4th May due to problems with the printing company. The issue itself is very good.
  • The Bridge is open for results night.
  • An email notification will be sent to all that registered on the Election website advising them to sign in to see who won in their constituency as well as nationally.
10. Shift Your Stuff update
  • Ellie gave a brief overview of Shift Your Stuff.
  • From mid-May there will be red bin in the Concourse to leave bags (this is most relevant to students in their last year and will be leaving early.
