1. Attendance and apologies

All the committee were present.

2. Approval of minutes of the last meeting

The minutes were approved.

3. Name the elephant competition

The committee discussed how best to run the competition to name the "Elephant in the room" elephant. It was decided that running the event over Facebook using  the poll feature to determine the most popular choice of name. It was also decided that there should be a prize given to a randomly chosen winner of wellbeing goodies such as colouring books, chocolate, daylight lightbulbs and pencils.

4. You Are You More Than... Ideas and Discussion

VP Welfare gave an update on the upcoming You Are More Than Your Degree project to combat exam stress. He outlined various events that were planned such as the Science Room, Researchers Cafe, a petting zoo and yoga at 

 

The committee then discussed other ideas and possible events that could be run. These included giving out free breakfasts and running smoothie workshops. 

5. Consent project update

Sam provided an update on our consent project. The project will be moving slowly due to its complex nature and the importance of ensuring that what we do is supportive and actually helps all students. 

6. Ideas for Halls Committee Welfare officer training

Sam discussed with the committee the training he hopes to provide to the new welfare officers on the new hall committees. He also took ideas from the committee on about what should be included. The committee suggested ensuring that the officers be trained in signposting to support services and campaigning around safety of going out.

7. Trunky's time to talk videos

The committee discussed making videos to help destigmatise mental health and making use of our elephant. The committee agreed to discuss ideas  using the committees' facebook group.

8. AOB

Police Day - Sam has booked for Hampshire Police to attend the Union's housing week for a day of information and activities.

 

Sexual Health contacts - Sam is still trying to get through to the surgery on campus but has been unsuccessful so far. Freya said she would contact sexpression.
