6. Anneka Honeyball: The Edge

Update provided in advance by AH via email:

"We held our AGM two weeks ago and are currently in the process of planning handovers. By 8th June, all incoming committee members will have been briefed on their roles and will start to take over, with guidance from their predecessors. Our final print issue for the year will be with CM to review by tonight and we are also working hard to secure Festival accreditation for several nationwide events. The only trouble we are currently facing is that (to my knowledge) the Mental Health issue has still not arrived, more than two weeks beyond the scheduled release date."

7. Alex Smith: SUSUtv

Apologies: no report submitted

8. Evelyn Reilly: Union Films

1. Projector has broken recently so it's been quiet. Although projector is now fixed and showings are back underway. Some films were rescheduled but not all were able to be due to availability of space.

2. AGM held

3. Currently year planning and freshers planning

4. Projector process has raised an alarm that a proper process for refunds is needed

9. George Smith: Performing Arts

Apologies: no report submitted.

International Student Participation in CI
10. CM to present Action Plan

CM introduces to zone what an action plan is and looks like – where they go and the process included.

Each student leader to come up with 1 action plan to include more international and BME students.

Suggestions open regarding what to add – suggestions, surveys and feedback from international students

Zone agrees that nothing needs adding to the International Student participation action plan, other than what CM has already included

Union AGM: CI Related Submissions
11. Have more Union Films showings

ER: We already have a minimum of 4 per week, and a maximum of 6 per week.

Free screenings could increase but attendance is usually limited. Biggest issue would be volunteer numbers.

It's not too practical asking for more slots in UF block bookings. However, next year plan includes more third week showings, this works better financially too. More film marathons are also planned for next year.

Zone agrees that this suggestion is already in motion, and it's using the time UF have already but more efficiently.

Action Draft up action plan for next meeting (Cameron Meldrum)
12. Add more artwork around campus

Discussion opens whether this should be student art or not. Zone agrees this shouldn’t be expensive considering the amount of art students at Winchester School of Art.

Action Draft an action plan to work with University (incl. Louise Coysh) to get more art around the campus. (Cameron Meldrum)
Action Check with Amelia (Entertainment Assistant) regarding progress of student artwork showcasing on campus. (Cameron Meldrum)
13. Provide more rehearsal space for PA societies

CM: Already have MPS, dance studio, clubs and socs room, café and many other spaces. Agreed this may be short but there isn’t space in the Union currently. No quick resolution.

*Discussion postponed until PA representative is at the next zone meeting.

Action Discuss AGM suggestion with GS at next zone meeting (Cameron Meldrum)
Creative Industries Conference
14. Feedback from committee on areas/topics that might be useful to include in the CI conference

Zone suggests adding the following:

1. Committee issues

2. Budgeting and money management for Union groups

3. Staff at the Union

4. Separate Union Films budgeting session (cam, evie, paul, max)

5. Professionalism and customer service for UF

6. How to fill in a claim back form.

Action Brainstorm/make a list of topics to cover for CI Conference (Cameron Meldrum, Jamie Ford)
15. Photoshop: useful vs accessible

Zone agrees photoshop is very useful during study and future workplaces, and that the software accessibility on University computers makes this is a worthwhile topic to cover on the CI conference

Decision Photoshop training to be added to Creative Industries Conference as planned
Any other business
16. Surge: Grad Ball ticket giveaway

Discussion begins suggesting ideas for how to give tickets away in an interesting way.
