1. Introduction and Apologies

Sam ran through the apologies, and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

2. Officer Reports

Due to it being the first meeting of the Education Zone, there were no officer reports.  A template report will be sent around to all student leaders, all reports will need to be submitted using this template.

Sam will be meeting with each Student Leader over the next few weeks; these 1 to 1s will be scheduled throughout the academic year.

3. PG Updates

Postgraduate representatives – 3 of the 5 positions are filled, the reps will be attending training, and marketing are working on some graphics to highlight the new structure and relationship with the PG committee.

4. Clubs and Socs Update

The grant round at the start of the academic year has concluded and grants are being distributed, 3 of 5 applications were approved. There were some strong applications, which is positive and looks good for the rest of the year.
The affiliation round will open soon and there is already quite a bit of interest which is encouraging.

5. University Senate

We send three representatives from Education Zone to University Senate; this is great opportunity as it is one of the most senior decision-making bodies at the University. Details will be sent around about nominations in the next few days.

6. Union Senate

The Union also has a full Senate, which acts as the political oversight body for the Union. It monitors the work of the Zone Committees, Union Officers and Trustee Board, monitors major expenditure by the Union and takes decisions on major Union issues. Each of the zones sends one representative to this meeting. Online nominations for this will be sent out once University senate has been decided.

7. AOB

Sam informed the zone that there is now a spare desk in the sabbatical office that student leaders can book out to use as part of their role.
