About the Communications, Marketing and Technology (CMT) Section

Communications, Marketing & Technology

The Communications, Marketing & Technology Section (affectionately referred to as CMT) has the simple task of making sure our members know what is going on. It ensures that communications is firmly on the SUSU agenda, as well as delivering marketing services for our activities across the organisation. Responsibility for Technology falls within this team. This is a clear recognition that technology is not just about IT.

Our aim is to know our membership and to unlock the potential and enrich the lives of our members through SUSU. We do this by employing innovative, engaging marketing methods, communicating in a relevant way, ensuring two way conversations through various channels, delivering at the cutting edge of technology and media and maximising revenue generation through media sales to external clients.

We work to high standards. We seek to provide the processes, systems and shared enthusiasm to support all SUSU departments and officers in achieving their goals and plans.

The CMT Team focuses on the following  seven areas:

  1. Communications
  2. Design & Print
  3. Marketing
  4. Student Media support
  5. Market Research
  6. Advertising Sales and Sponsorship
  7. Technology

 

This work is managed through the three teams of Communications, Marketing and Technology which are headed up by the Head of CMT.

About the Communication Team

The Communications team shape and inform the direction and content of our website, whilst ensuring that we are on trend and up to date in our use of social media. They embrace technological solutions to enable our members to engage with us, such as live video feeds of our key events and online live voting for our AGM.

About the Technology Team

The Technology team is responsible for the provision and maintenance of our IT hardware and software, along with developing innovative software solutions to serve our business needs.  They also provide the technical support for our venues and events, including staging and lighting to ensure that our members receive a professional quality entertainments experience.

About the Marketing Team

The Marketing team aims to drive SUSU forward by knowing our key audiences better than anyone else and engaging with them proactively.

About the Role – Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager is a vital role in ensuring that we fully engage our members in the wider range of activities that SUSU encompasses. Their main responsibilities are to:

  1. Lead on marketing planning and campaigns
  2. Ensure we make intelligent use of our opportunities
  3. Create an effective, motivated and happy team

As Marketing Manager you will find yourself working in a busy office with a lively team of staff.  No two working days will be the same as you balance the requests of staff and students to facilitate brilliant campaigns.  To get an idea of the kind of thing that you will be working on take a look at our website, everything from the graduation ball promotions to the branding of SUSU itself are undertaken by the marketing team.

Some projects will require early starts and late finishes, but we will enable you to work flexibly and take time off in lieu to ensure that you maintain a great work life balance.  You’ll find that working with students provides a really diverse range of opportunities - at SUSU you won’t get bored, there will always be an exciting project just around the corner.
