Improve the 'meet the farm animals' event on campus, or swap it for a better event

Complete

This event should have been at least better managed, and having this as a booked event to control the amount of human interaction for the animals would have been less stressful and confusing for them (the therapy dog event is a booking-required one, and the dogs are given more supervision and care). The pens for the birds especially should have been bigger (the turkeys only had enough room to turn and take a few steps) and they shoud have had access to food and enrichment, and an area to rest away from human interaction, or given a break in-between the event.

Hi,

Thank you for this submission. Please be assured that we work with a farm that has a high welfare standard practices in place, such as ensuring the animals have breaks. The animals are closely monitored by trained staff to ensure they don't become overwhelmed and are treated well by visitors at the event.

We really appreciate your feedback and interest in the events we run at SUSU. If you have any more ideas, questions or concerns please contact me at vpeddem@soton.ac.uk.

Many thanks,

Rebecca
