Have a wheelchair available at SUSU Building 42 or Stags/Garden Court Building 40

During an event held at The Bridge this year I needed to assist a student, either to the SUSU safety bus or to Highfield Interchange.
The staff were able to provide me with a wheeled office chair, and contacted the First Aiders at Jubilee Sports Hall, which allowed us to get by and help the student. This was a difficult and shaky solution, it would be massively benificial if SUSU could have a wheechair available in one of their redbrick buildings. It was concerning that neither SUSU nor the First Aid staff were able to provide wheechairs, and no one was able to discern whether we would be able to source one from the Highfield Security Staff or similar.
It has been mentioned to Societies recently that SUSU is in the process of consulting on sports wheelchairs for some Sports Clubs, could this include some consideration for other places around campus that acessibility support could be needed, even if the only change is a wheelchair available at SUSU, then this would have been a positive and productie You Make Change!!!!

Since our last update, we have had several discussions with campus security to explore the possibility to implement your proposal for a wheelchair to be available at one of our redbrick buildings. Unfortunately, we have identified several risks associated with this and would not be able to bring this vision to life at this stage.
The good news is, we have approved budget for 4 sport wheelchairs to be purchased and become available at the start of next year. Sessions will be delivered by experts and are very excited to take another step forward in building a more accessible and inclusive sporting community.

We have been having discussions with campus security to further explore the necessity of having wheelchairs in Building 42. We are currently investigating our options to make this possible and hope to get back to you with another update as soon as possible.
