Come and join the Soton Marxist society at the Common near the Avenue campus, for our first in person event this year!
There are many on the left who look down upon revolution. The typical refrain is that revolution is impossible and unnecessary, and that with enough reforms, capitalism can be made into a 'friendlier' form for the working class.
While Marxists do not oppose the fight for reforms, we must be clear on what reforms are. They can only ever be a stepping stone on the path to the overthrow of capitalism. They cannot solve capitalism's contradictions, and they are not immune to attacks by the ruling class.
Join us for a discussion on this topic. Feel free to attend with any level of familiarity of Marxist theory, and be sure to bring any questions you have!
