Greetings hillwalkers!

We hope our Brockenhurst walk last Sunday provided a good introduction to our hillwalks, and whet your appetite for more. If so, then we've got an excellent follow up walk for you in the form of a Daywalk (or more accurately, a day trip) to the Isle of Wight - an annual club tradition.

This walk will start at the coastal town of Yarmouth, heading west along the north coast and down to the famous 'Needles' rock feature. From there we climb up Tennyson Down (stopping off at the monument), head along it then down into Freshwater, before finally following the River Yar through the centre of the Isle of Wight, up and back into Yarmouth. The walk promises a plethora of coastal views and stunning scenery.

This walk shall be split into two groups. The first group will be led by Will and Matt Clark, and you should aim to be at Southampton Central for 7am to catch the 07:21 train to Weymouth, changing at Brockenhurst to catch another train down to Lymington.

The second group, led by James and Tom Daly, will catch the 08:17 train to Weymouth, again changing at Brockenhurst to get the train down to Lymington, so for Group 2 you will need to be at Southampton Central for approximately 8am.

If you are travelling down to Southampton Central by bus, we would strongly urge you to catch an earlier bus than you think you will need, partially to account for any delays, but also because there is not a lot of time between the later buses arriving, and the train departing.

For both groups, you will need an off-peak day return to Yarmouth (Isle of Wight). This ticket includes access to the Wightlink Ferry that we take to cross from Lymington to the Isle of Wight, and will cost £18.65 with a railcard, and £28 without one.
