Why vote for Marina Stasi?

Allow me to introduce myself as Marina, a student, an athlete, a leader, and a passionate sports enthusiast. Admittedly, I fail to recall a time in my life when did not strive for excellence academically, but also in the social and athletic sphere.

I have been an active member of various programs like Erasmus+, MEDIMUN, MEDMEP, the European Youth Parliament and Euroscola which have enhanced my communication and leadership skills. From being elected as the Student Council President to serving as the Athletic Union's Secretary and the Southampton University's Riding Club (SURC) Secretary and Social Secretary, I have honed my problem-solving, diplomatic, and negotiation skills, always remaining fair and ethical.  This year, I was elected as Year 3 Course representative, Secretary of the Greek&Cypriot Society and as Athletics Union Officer, working closely with the current VP Sports, and I am now eager to use my experience and skills to positively contribute to the sports community at the university. I have always been an active sportsperson, with a passion for horse riding. Competing on a national and international level has improved my self-discipline and time management skills, and I have embodied sports values such as respect, dignity, and hard work. My involvement in sports include Track & Field, Women's Football, Swimming, and CrossFit. I have been a proud member of SURC's BUCS team for the past three years which has worked wonders on my previously struggling mental health throughout my studies.

My vision as the Vice President of Sports focuses on accessibility and inclusivity, promoting the importance of physical activity and sports for everyone, regardless of ability, background, or interests, by providing a diverse range of programs, facilities, and opportunities for all students. I believe in empowering students to take an active role in shaping the sports culture at the university and supporting their initiatives, by providing resources, training, and mentorship. I also stand by promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyles by encouraging environmental awareness, physical activity, and healthy eating habits. This will be achieved through partnerships with local organizations, events, and initiatives.

Through collaborations/partnerships, I am determined to build strong relationships with local communities, sports clubs, and businesses, to expand opportunities for students and increase the impact of the university's sports programs. Furthermore, I believe in encouraging student involvement and providing opportunities for them to become leaders and ambassadors for the university's sports programs, by supporting student-led initiatives and ensuring their voices are heard. I am committed to ensuring transparency and effective communication with all stakeholders, including students, staff, alumni, and local communities. I will achieve this through regular updates, feedback mechanisms, and opportunities for engagement, to ensure that everyone is informed and engaged in the university's sports programs.

At the core of my character lies a deep commitment to ethics and a desire to witness the community at its peak. Rest assured that I will work tirelessly to create opportunities for students to get involved in sports, build a supportive community, and promote the values deeply embedded sports.
