Why vote for Wilson Odek?

Hi all, My name is Wilson Odek, a Kenyan 3rd year PhD student assessing the impact our social identities have on the economic decisions we make. Having been in the University since undergrad (started 2013), I have experienced the highs and lows of being a student at the University, having held various representation roles as a Course Rep, and a PGT Officer, and as a Senator.

That said, I am again interested in representing you as a Student Trustee in the SUSU Board. Having been a Senator before, I plan to, just as I did before, to ensure that those members you have elected to various roles of leadership are kept accountable and deliver against their mandates. Further, to ensure that strategies set are truly in the interests of University Students. Since the pandemic, Uni has been quite different and admittedly tough for all. As part of the Board, I would endeavour to ensure that the Union prioritizes the interests of students in terms of flexibility and offering quality well-rounded education to all students. There is much room for improvement with regards to PGR support and I hope to ensure that their concerns and affairs are well sought after by SUSU.

Having had an accountancy/banking background, I bring a scrutineering eye especially on expenditure and budgeting, with the intention of ensuring pertinent issues are given budgetary priority, well documented for and executed in a timely fashion.

I am particularly interested in ensuring consistency in Sports Development, Sustainable development, and actionable policies that ensure an immersive student/alumni life and inclusion of minorities in policy determination and student communities. I am also keen on ensuring that actual sustainable development is conducted that will ensure benefit of current and prospective students.
