Why vote for Ed Brooker?

I wish to run for student union president at the University of Southampton as I believe I bring a fresh approach to student politics. With my enthusiastic outlook on student life and my innovative policies, I am the perfect candidate for anyone who is looking for a president who truly represents the student body and works to improve their experience.

I am dedicated to increasing union funding for progressive and innovative environmental action. With the urgent need for action on climate change, it is imperative that the university takes a more active role in promoting environmental awareness. Whether it's through sustainability initiatives or eco-friendly events, I am committed to doing my part in protecting the planet.

Student safety on nights out is another crucial issue that I am passionate about. Students enjoy going out in the evenings, and it is my goal to ensure their safety while doing so. From my experience as the head of welfare and security at Jesters Nightclub, I have a number of proposals such as; expanding the range of the SUSU safety bus to Bevois Valley and investing in anti-spike drink caps to distribute to local clubs. These are the first steps to increasing student safety on nights out.

As a tool used by students daily, it is important that the app is reliable and easy to use, however; login issues, constant crashing and an uninviting user interface all contradict this. To improve the student experience, the app must showcase upcoming sporting events and extra-curricular classes - what students want to see.

I also believe in giving recognition to intramural sports teams. These teams often go overlooked by the university, but I believe they have a lot to offer. By putting a spotlight on this, I hope to encourage more students to get involved by watching games and showcasing their athletic abilities. This will not only boost their confidence and improve their physical fitness, but it will also create a sense of camaraderie and community spirit among students.

Another one of my top priorities is to rebrand the Cube. The current club has a lacklustre reputation and is negatively affecting the student experience. By revitalizing the brand and creating a lively and inviting atmosphere, I am confident that the club can become a staple in student life, bringing the university community together and fostering a sense of unity among students.

In conclusion, I believe I am the ideal candidate for student union president at the University of Southampton. With my bubbly personality, innovative policies, and commitment to enhancing student life, I am confident in my ability to be a popular and effective leader. So if you're looking for a president who will work tirelessly to make your university experience enjoyable and memorable.

Use your head. Vote for Ed.
