What's the mark of a great senator at SUSU? Is it the ability to firmly, and with probity, hold the Union Officers to account? Or the knack for reviewing, enacting, and implementing wide-reaching policies? Perhaps it's the capacity to be the Students' Voice while making informed decisions on critical issues that affect them.

Whichever be the case, we need a Senate Chair like me with the 360° leadership capabilities and relevant experience to harness/harmonize the varying traits and talents of all elected senators and make the Union Senate a powerhouse we'll be proud of. As your Senate Chair, I'll be your steward, committed to leading a responsible Senate by ascertaining that every decision made on your behalf strongly aligns with the SUSU’s democratic values.

Even with the best of intentions, students' representatives often derail their promises at best, or lead irresponsibly at worst. One of my priorities will be to hold the Sabbatical and Student Officers accountable, provide oversight, and ensure transparency. I will equally foster a culture of absolute transparency where every action taken by the Senate itself is open for your scrutiny and feedback. Having professionally worked in risk and audit roles in the financial industry for 6 years prior to now, I have the toolkits and moral compass to bring this obligation to fruition.

Collaboratively, I'll see to the review of existing policies and enactment of new ones where and when needed, especially considering contemporary students' challenges while superintending compliance and adherence to the Union's rules and policies by all parties involved.

Through effective communication, I will ensure the Senate keeps you updated on all the pertinent issues discussed/decided behind the scenes regarding SUSU’s plans for us. I will also enkindle students' interests in participating in Senate meetings by creating a safe and inclusive environment where students can communicate their opinions and propose valuable ideas on issues that will better the community.

As your Senate Chair, I'll work tirelessly together with my distinguished colleagues to represent your interest. I'll uphold and defend your voice. I shall champion inclusive representation and advocacy for all students in cognizance of our diverse student community, providing the enabling environment where your concerns are respectfully heard and adequately addressed.

Finally. While prior student government leadership experience in a similar role may not be a formal criterion for electing your Senate Chair, I believe experience matters, nonetheless. And from my active student leadership roles during my undergraduate days a couple of years ago at the University of Nigeria, to being the 2023 Cohort Representative for 44 Chevening Scholars from Nigeria, I'm your best bet for this task. I request you to join me on this journey of forging a student-centric senate that truly reflects your aspirations and needs.
