It is all too easy to feel pessimistic nowadays about the great global challenges that our generation is faced with.
However, we must never underestimate a student’s determination, ambition and drive for change. We live in a community with some of the most brilliant young minds in the country, leading the research in microplastics, air pollution, renewable energy and countless more areas.
As an environmental scientist you are taught to look past the pessimism and get down to work. We learn to use our ingenuity, to research, understand, collaborate, and find a solution to solve problems. As a student officer, I aim to do just the same.
My main goal as sustainability officer is to help all students to enhance their own environmental stewardship. Through a bit of understanding and awareness, I truly believe that we could have a big positive influence in our community. After all, I’m just one of the thousands of students motivated enough to make a difference on environmental matters.
So, this isn’t all about what I intend to accomplish with your vote. It’s about what we, together, are all capable of achieving in order to maximize the environmental standards of our university.
