Aaron Marchant

History Department President

Key Points

  • Staff-student events, ranging from football friendlies, to seasonal drinks
  • Clear and confident feedback to lecturers
  • Building on current exam and essay guidance
  • Creation of module-specific online discussion portals to link students
  • Creation of History awards- for both staff and students

I am a friendly, easy-going, confident student who loves all things History. I believe I can foster a friendly and engaging community between staff and students here at Southampton, arranging events, and suggesting ways to de-stress student life as much as possible. I am a current course representative, and therefore believe my inside experience will allow me to confidently lead the History Department. My main priority will be connecting the History department in new and innovative means, from the creation of chat-room like portals for fellow-students to discuss module queries and essay concerns, to the History Awards, which would celebrate staff and student achievements alike. We, the students, pay the fees, and we should influence the direction of the Department; linking lecturers and students together will continue to build a positive, friendly and conducive working environment.
