Shannon Coutanche

Sociology, Social Policy and Crimonology Department President

As a third-year student I've experienced a lot at this university, all of which I believe puts me in a good position to represent a wide variety of issues, interests and students. I'm a hardworking individual who isn't afraid of a challenge, which is why I believe I can stand on behalf of the students. I'm passionate about my subject, but also many others in the department which is reflected in my choices of option modules over the years and will allow me to confidently speak on behalf of the entire department.

If elected, I will represent everyone that comes under this department and their needs. I will do the most to ensure everyone gets an opportunity to put forward their ideas, concerns and opinions, and that they will be respected by not only myself, but the rest of the team and relevant staff in order to action them. I’m a creative and determined person which I believe will allow me to do this, in any way, shape or form. I will make sure every student with a voice is heard. I'm eager to take on this role for the experience, but also to make a change and ensure that all students feel satisfied, happy and confident in this department and can continue to make the most out of their time at university at whatever stage, whilst having the opportunity to thrive and achieve their very best, and enjoy every moment of it.
