Key Points

  • To scrutinise Sabbatical Officers to ensure they actually represent students
  • To communicate with students the plans and decisions of Officers
  • To make students concerns a priority
  • To make sensible and just decisions on high level issues
  • To uphold the values of democracy and counter any bureaucracy

I'm Salvatore Pagdades and I am running for a position on the SUSU Senate.

If you vote for me, my key priorities for you will be:

  • to scrutinise Sabbatical Officers to ensure they actually represent what students want/need
  • to communicate with students the plans and the decisions of Sabbatical Officers and why the Senate is voting on them
  • to make sensible and just decisions on high level issues

You may be thinking, "How will he do that though?":

  • First of all, in regard to scrutiny, I have a great deal of experience in approving and scrutinising candidates for local government elections, making sure they are transparent and competent.
  • Secondly, in regard to communication, I have strong communication skills with high profile public figures in my job with a media and communications company in London. The skills I have gained from this will ensure I am coherent and confident enough to engage with students at the University as well as Sabbatical Officers too.
  • Finally, in regard to decision-making, I have sat on a local council committee in my home town, representing the views of young people and making decisions based on what I have seen and listened to. I will do the same for you on the Senate.

These experiences combined with my theoretical knowledge of democracy and checks and balances from my degree studies in Politics, show that I am suitable for the role of a Senator. I will also be a strong link for international students to come to if they have questions on the work of the Senate and I pledge to represent their interests as well.

Vote for Salvatore Pagdades from the 17th through to the 19th of October, to be one of your next SUSU Senators.

Thank you, grazie and ευχαριστώ
