Hi everyone! For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Issie Williams and I am running to be your Midwifery Department President this year!

It's no secret that midwifery isn't an easy course and students require an advocate,  just as we advocate for our women. If I have the privilege to be elected into this position I will do everything in my power to champion all midwifery students and provide a voice for everyone regardless of their stage in the course.

Having been the second year student representative for the 2021/22 academic year, I have been actively involved in student liaison meetings - supporting members of my cohort with any concerns they may have and raising them to staff in a clear and concise manner. I believe this experience has prepared me to not only advocate for my year group, but for the department as a whole, as well as supporting the elected representatives who will be new to their positions.

I am confident and not afraid of hard work – I can offer you my dedication, my effort and my enthusiasm for this position. I think it is essential for all midwifery students to have a say in how their program is run, this is not about me and my agenda, if I was elected as department president your agenda becomes my agenda.

It would be an honour to represent you as department president. Thank you for taking the time to read.
