Key Points

  • Giving students a voice
  • Widening and encouraging student participation in events
  • Making the students' experiences at university better
  • Giving feedback to other members of the department
  • Making the University of Southampton a community

I would like to make an application as the School President for the Economic, Political and Social Sciences as I believe that I would be the best fit for the role. This is because I believe that I am the best person to help foresee the changes that need to take place in the university, for the betterment of the students’ education and to make the processes at the university more efficient. I have worked in many teams before, both in course-related group projects and outside of my academics, where I often had to assume the leadership role to take care of problems that arose within the work and between team members. This can be aptly applied to facilitating a positive relationship between the University and the Student Representatives, as I believe that working as one synergetic unit will allow for better outcomes in the future. I can also apply this experience to improving the student experience in the university because I will pay attention to every detail to make sure that all initiatives are participating and making sure that this comes into fruition. I will also make myself available to all members of my department so that I can pay attention to any issues that may arise and suggest any possible improvements to the rest of my team.
