Key Points

  • Communication- To be clear and concise between all stakeholders
  • Understanding- To be explicit and fight for the important issues
  • Change- Implementing intelligent change to make the NOCS better

My name is Daniel Romero Saavedra, some of you may already know me but for those who don't here is a little bit about me.

I am a third-year student studying marine biology with oceanography, I have been here with and without COVID restrictions and know what it is like to experience them. My main reason for becoming a NOCS Officer is to bridge the gap between students and the researchers working at NOCS. There seems to be a disconnect as a lot of the time students are not fully aware of the people and projects occurring at the NOCS; connecting the two can create opportunities for students and researchers.

For example, a professor might require extra help in a specific project which can be an opportunity for a student to gain knowledge and valuable experience that will be useful further on in their career. If elected I will also help push for environmental awareness around the NOCS to inform and help in the fight against climate change.

Thank you for your time and I hope you will vote for me.
