The University of Southampton Students’ Union (SUSU) is one of the leading students’ unions in the country. We represent Southampton’s 23,000 students, helping them make their voices heard locally and nationally on issues like housing, fees, and much more.
We employ 70 full-time staff and up to 250 student staff throughout the year.

The Role
Our aim is to ensure that customers receive the best possible experience when attending SUSU events. In this role, you will be providing technical support at SUSU events, creating a safe working environment and helping provide welcoming and informative customer service.
You will also have opportunities to work at SUSU events and activities at different venues in Southampton and Winchester such as St Marys Stadium, the Guildhall, and local venues.
Previous backstage experience is an advantage, but training will be provided. The technical crew are a key part of all SUSU events, and joining the team is a great experience during your time at University.
This is a real chance to make an impact on the student experience at the University of Southampton Students' Union by getting involved in providing fabulous events.

Pre-Sessional Helper

Want a job where you deliver events and social activities?
Want a job that you know is supporting other students?
Want a job where you can learn new skills?
The Role
Pre-sessional Helpers get the chance to meet a whole new group of students over the summer vacation (end of June to end of August) and help them to integrate into University life in the UK. Pre-sessional students take part in an intensive course to ensure that they have a high enough level of English to start their degree course in October. You’ll be helping to deliver a social programme throughout the summer which will include support sessions, evening social events and day trips, giving the students time to relax and helping them get used to British culture.
Please note this is a fixed term role from June 2024 to September 2024.
About You
For most of the project you will be working in a team and will need to be able to coordinate well with others and work as a group to solve any problems. You will also need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, approachable and friendly, have great communication skills and be able to use your initiative in different situations. A good understanding of the experience and needs of international students would also be relevant to this role.

Winchester School of Art Assistant

The Role
We have an exciting part-time opportunity available for Winchester School of Art wanting to join our Union’s team at WSA.
As a member of support staff at WSA, you will be a welcoming and supportive point of contact for SUSU at our WSA helpdesk, greeting visitors and referring to the appropriate Union or University department. You will also be working with our Activities team to deliver and promote the Union’s offering at WSA.
About You
We are seeking to recruit approachable, motivated and proactive students to join our team of at WSA. Proximity to Winchester School of Art campus is desirable as most shifts will be limited to 3 hours, but this is not a requirement.
