Arvin De Vera

Business School President

Key Points

  • To be an effective voice on behalf of fellow students
  • To create better ways of learning
  • To raise all concerns to the best of my ability
  • To improve student satisfaction and feedback
  • To be there always

Hi, I am Arvin and currently in my second-year pursuing BSc Accounting and Finance.

During my time at Southampton Business School so far, I have noticed that there are still a lot of issues that are needed to be addressed, including lack of library resources, minimal interaction between personal tutors and students, the need to have discussion boards and lack of student awareness on Student-Staff Liaison Committee meetings. Hence, the ideal Business School Academic President is someone who will not just solve the current issues, but also, someone who can create better and positive changes at the university. I believe that I can ensure these proven through my current experiences. During this academic year, I am one of the Course Representatives for Accounting and Finance, where I used my voice to represent your concerns at Student-Staff Liaison Committee meetings. I would like to continue this in the future but take one step further to be in the forefront of enriching your overall student experience at Southampton Business School. Apart from this, I was part of the Student Communities Zone committee and hold the position of Senator Representative of this zone, where I represented the opinions and issues of societies and students within the zone during Union Senate meetings.

I hope that this manifesto proved that I am the right person who can make realistic promises and who can ensure that you truly get the best experience, academically and socially, at Southampton Business School.

Many thanks, Arvin De Vera
