A warm hello to all of my fellow English peers!

Thank you for taking the time to read this amidst the pretty deadly deadline and exam season!

I’m Ulfat; a second-year English and History student keen to represent you by becoming your English Department President for the upcoming academic year! I see this as an exciting and enriching opportunity that would enable me to represent your best interests and concerns – across every year group – to ensure that your voice is heard, whatever it is that you want to communicate.

Through my extensive experience in a people-facing role (Prefect; Student President; Year 1 English Course Rep; a Student Ambassador at the University), I have really come to embrace pushing myself to achieve the things that my peers and I are truly passionate about and cultivating myself in to a responsible, empathetic individual. I have also come to embrace talking a lot...I love to chat with anyone about anything (please come and say 'hi' whenever you spot me around campus!), and I believe that constructing dialogues is key to recognizing and solving any issue. As a joint-honours student, an ongoing dialogue between two points has always been something that I have appreciated, and this is exactly what I want to deliver as your Department President: a constant conversation between you all and myself, the Department, and, by extension, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and beyond.
