Chloe Dixon

Sociology, Social Policy and Crimonology Department President

Hello! My name is Chloe and I am a 3rd year studying BSc Sociology. I have loved studying my course so far and feel passionate about ensuring that other students are able to successfully complete their studies while enjoying it along the way. This has never been more important than now, in these uncertain times, which is why I am applying for a position for the first time.

If I were to be elected as department president, I would work hard to amplify every voice possible within my department, with the aim of representing the views and experiences of all students within the Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology department. Online learning and the current lockdown has brought new and unexpected challenges to my studies, as I expect it has with everyone else: I would like to be able to help find solutions to my peers’ problems through collecting feedback, voicing concerns and collaborating with other representatives within my department and school.

I feel that my strong communication skills and approachability would be beneficial for this role, because it is crucial that student representatives within my department and all SSPC students feel comfortable sharing anything that they deem as important. Furthermore, I feel it is especially important right now for students to feel that they are part of a community, despite having to remain distanced at the moment, which is why is feel particularly passionate about this position.
