Friday 28 April, 18:00 - 20:00, The Cube B42: Join us for a stylish night of fashion and fun! Our fashion show showcases amazing, sustainable garments designed by talented students at the Winchester School of Art. Fast-fashion plays a key part in the toxic system of overproduction and consumption which makes the fashion industry one of the world’s largest polluters. Sustainability Forum

Tuesday 25 April, 12:00 - 14:00, Below Deck B42: Hear from our panel on sustainability and learn how we can all do our bit for our planet. We will hear from representatives at SUSU, the University, Southampton City Council, and students who have secured internships working in the sustainability sector. The conversation will be student-led, guided by your input, with free vegan food on offer too! Free event.

Give It a Go: Bee Hotel Making with Beekeeping Society

Thursday 27 April, 14:00 - 16:00, SUSU B42: We are inviting Beekeeping Society to host an exciting workshop where you will have the opportunity to create your own bee hotel and learn about the important role that bees play in our environment! We're proud to have partnered with Teemill as our merchandise and clothing supplier for The Locker, helping to tackle environmental issues related to the fashion industry. Teemill clothing is designed to be returned and remade again and again, so it never enters landfill (a process they call 'Remill').

Too Good To Go at The Shop

Recycle at SUSU

Some items can't be recycled in your household recycling bin, but here at SUSU we have recycling points in place for printer cartridges, pringle cans and flexible plastic waste (like crisp packets). These are located at:

  • Printer Cartridges: SUSU B42 main reception
  • Pringle Cans: SUSU B42 main reception
  • Flexible plastic waste: wooden chest at SUSU B42 entrance

Naomi House and Jacksplace

We are partnering with Naomi House and Jacksplace for our Sustainable Fashion Show! Their charity provides respite, end of life and bereavement support for seriously ill children, young adults, and their families. They will be providing second hand clothes from their charity stores in Southampton for us to model on our runway, showing us how we can reuse and restyle thrifted clothing! These will then be available to buy after the show, with all proceeds going to Naomi House and Jacksplace.

Meliora International Symposium of Student Sustainability Research 2023

Thursday 08 June, 10:00 - 15:00, Building 44 (Shackleton Building). Established in 2016, students from across the UK and the rest of the world, attend and present their research at this prestigious International Symposium, and have the opportunity to submit work for publication in the Meliora International Journal of Student Sustainability Research as part of a Symposium Special Edition. The focus of the symposium is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
